The practice of sports at Eleva School gives students the opportunity to get to know their physical potential and understand it as another instrument for self-knowledge, building relationships and transforming the world. In addition to Physical Education classes (P.E.), physical activities are also explored in the Afterschool program, in which we offer a wide variety of options, and in the school teams (for Upper School students).
From Kindergarten to High School, each grade is introduced to a variety of activities and sports in accordance with national and international guidelines, always with the aim of promoting a body culture of movement that goes beyond sports performance and also develops socio-emotional, cognitive and physical skills.
Learning opportunities in Physical Education
In the school’s various sport facilities, our students have the opportunity to experience both Olympic and Paralympic sports of different categories: tracking and precision (athletics – running, jumping and throwing), field and bat (hockey, baseball, football), net and wall (tennis , volleyball, badminton) and territory and invasion (football, basketball, handball, rugby). In addition, we also promote dance, gymnastics and various games interfacing with projects from the International Early Year Curriculum (IEYC), the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the Middle Years Program (MYP) and the International Baccalaureate® (IB ).
Our curriculum is split into four segments throughout the year and the contents reappear in the following grades, always at more complex levels.
In addition to physical skills such as strength, agility, flexibility, body awareness and motor coordination, P.E. classes also allow us to work on Eleva School’s values - respect, enthusiasm, excellence, responsibility and kindness – with students in a practical way, through the development of sportsmanship, teamwork, logical reasoning, cooperation, concentration and resilience, essential lessons for the growth of children and teenagers on and off the court.
Teams and competitions
One option for students who are passionate about sports is to be part of Eleva School’s teams, which have regular training sessions and participate in citywide, statewide and national interscholastic competitions, always accompanied by specialized teams. (Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this project is temporarily paused).
Another option for students who are interested in sports and dance is our extracurricular activities program*, available at all Eleva School’s campi in collaboration with partner companies.
After-school classes are restricted to Eleva School students. The program usually includes wrestling, dancing, yoga, artistic gymnastics, ball sports and more, varying according to the campus, the age group and availability of partner companies.
